Paul Hallam has been a script advisor on a feature length documentary about Yilmaz Güney by Ilker Savaskurt, Ballad of the Exiles.
The ballad of exiles takes up the story of the director Yılmaz Güney forced to flee to France after the coup d’etat in 1980, where he shot his latest film “The Wall”. The film also evokes the political and artistic life that today leads in France and in Turkey the political activists, artists and intellectuals who frequented Yılmaz Güney. They share all their experiences about the oppressions they have suffered, their exile life, as well as their dreams and desires for cinema.
